where to buy septa key card

There are three steps necessary to switch to the SEPTA Key reloadable transit fare card.

Visit one of these retailers to purchase a SEPTA Key Card: septa.org/key/resources/sales.html. The Penn Bookstore (3601 Walnut Street, ground floor) also has a SEPTA Key Kiosk for your convenience.

To use your SEPTA Key Card, you must first activate it online at www.septakey.org.

You can finish placing your commuter order by logging into your WageWorks account.

Please note that SEPTA and WageWorks are in charge of the SEPTA Key and Commuter Pass Programs, respectively. You may find the following suggestions helpful as you deal with their procedures:

In order to obtain a SEPTA Key card, there are some fees that must be paid. In order to register your card, you’ll need to pay $4.95. In addition, you’ll need to load at least $1 onto your new card if you’re activating it at a Fare Kiosk or $5 if you’re doing so in person at a SEPTA Sales Office. It will all be put into your SEPTA Travel Wallet. SEPTA has informed us that the wallet can be used to buy a monthly pass or to pay as you go for the days you plan to commute.

Keep the Card Reference ID number in a safe place. Your physical SEPTA Key Card does not display this number. The correct location is the SEPTA Key website’s My Account page. This is the number you’ll need to enter during the WageWorks online process in order to get your SEPTA Key order processed (see next step). While it is recommended that you record the number somewhere, the most secure and reliable method is to use your computer’s copy/paste functions to paste the number directly into your WageWorks account.

To finish transferring your commuter transit order to a SEPTA Key Card, you will need to sign into your WageWorks account. When you sign up for WageWorks’ transit fare product, the Key Card will be loaded with the monthly fare at the beginning of each month. To ensure timely processing, please submit your commuter order for the following month no later than the 10th of the month prior to your anticipated use.
