Lauren Santo Domingo Children: Lauren Santo Domingo (née Davis; born February 28, 1976) is an American businesswoman, magazine editor, and socialite who is best known for her work as a fashion designer. She is the co-founder and Chief Brand Officer of the online fashion store Moda Operandi, which she co-founded with her husband. Lauren Santo Domingo confesses, jokingly, that “there were all my scrapbooks there…” I’ve had these since middle school—hundreds and hundreds of them.” Here they are, neatly organized in the library of her Southampton manse, elegantly linen-bound by master bookbinder Paul Vogel and displayed beside large runs of World of Interiors and Lapham’s Quarterly magazines, to name a few. The author adds, “It’s interesting to see how my preferences have evolved, but also how, in many respects, they have remained precisely the same.”

Lauren acknowledges that her most recent foray into homemaking is in many ways an exercise in nostalgia, an effort to re-create treasured childhood experiences for her own children, Nico, who is eight, and Beatrice, who is six, in the process of creating a house for them. He grew up in a magnificent 1902 Georgian home in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, with a pastoral maze of azalea and lilac trees to climb, oak trees to climb, and gazebos to play house in.

It’s possible that the walls of Lauren Santo Domingo’s Parisian apartment could speak, and they’d tell some fantastic stories. A star-studded celebration has taken place in this structure, which was built in the 1890s in classic Haussman style. Lauren is doing her best to carry on this tradition. He had previously attended a party at the property when it belonged to an American dancer, and it was during one of her fashion week parties that the late Karl Lagerfeld recognized the place. According to Lauren, a large number of individuals enter the building and get a distinct impression that they have been here before.

Its reputation as a host comes as no surprise considering its attractive appearance and quiet position in St Germain, which can be accessed via an unassuming doorway leading to a courtyard. Vast, robust doors greet visitors as they enter; towering sash windows allow in plenty of natural light to fill the large, square rooms; a winding staircase; and high, decorative ceilings greet them as they leave the building.

“Having a Parisian apartment, with its gracious scale and proportion, is always infinitely better than having a New York apartment,” says Lauren, whose primary residence is in New York, where she runs Moda Operandi, the online fashion emporium she co-founded in 2011. Moda Operandi has showrooms in New York, London, and Hong Kong, and will open in K11 Musea in November.
