Second, the USB cable will allow your controller to connect to your PS4 when you turn it on. There is a PlayStation button in the middle of the controller that must be depressed in order to use the device. The PS4 should then prompt you to sign in with a player account, allowing you to associate the controller with a specific gaming profile.
When the controller is on and functioning, the LED light bar on top of it will glow blue (or another color, if it isnt the first controller connected red for player 2, green for player 3, and pink for player 4).
