Ashley Reeves Story Lifetime: The saga of Ashley Reeves is a nightmare come true. In 2006, a 17-year-old girl was kidnapped, almost strangled, and abandoned in a park by a teacher. The assault on Reeves was terrible, yet he somehow survived. Left for Dead: The Ashley Reeves Tale, a new Lifetime original movie coming June 12, tells her story. Samson Shelton, a 26-year-old teacher at a competing school, became the prime suspect in the disappearance of Reeves when he disappeared in April 2006. Reeves had his phone number and had told others they were seeing one other romantically. Reeves’ whereabouts were first disputed by Shelton, who claimed they were merely friends. It didn’t take long for a new angle to develop, as revealed in a 2017 True Crime Daily piece that interviewed both Reeves and the detectives who had been working on the case.

Confession: Shelton confessed to having a sexual connection with the young lady. The next day, he told her he’d abandoned her by the side of the road because they’d quarreled the day before. Shelton subsequently admitted to police that he had killed Reeves and discarded his corpse in a remote area. To date, Shelton has served 20 years for the attempted murder of a police officer; Reeves was still alive, despite her injuries. Her recovery, on the other hand, was arduous and prolonged. The adolescent had to relearn how to walk and speak after being injured in an accident. And her recollection of the assault, as well as the events that before and followed it, was fading fast. There was little else she could recall about the incident other than the fact that she and Shelton had gotten into an argument and that she was attempting to terminate their relationship. In light of her previous feelings against the assailant, she found it difficult to view the police tape of the cops’ discovery of her in the woods. “It was devastating and distressing all at the same time. Why? Because she remarked in an interview with True Crime Daily, “I always thought of Sam as a buddy.” In addition, “to hear from everyone what he accomplished and what he had done and then to witness it, it was just sort of overwhelming.” “

Left for Dead, Ashley (Anwen O’Driscoll) is equally shocked when her mother (Jennie Garth) exposes what happened to their “friend” when she tells the story. Left for Dead focuses on Reeves’ extraordinary recovery rather than the circumstances leading up to Shelton’s assault on her. Even though she had to learn how to eat and drink all over again, she remained steadfast in her desire to return to a normal life.

As Reeves said to Smart, “I’m a warrior who really wants to push himself further and harder.”

Filmmaker Gloria Ui Young is the director. Despite Reeves’ deteriorating health, Kim wanted to highlight her determination to share her side of the tale. St. Louis Post-Dispatch quotes her as saying: “Given the moment we’re living in, it’s really, really, really vital that women’s experiences remain at the forefront.” “Her real narrative of survival, rather than the mystery, was the storey itself.”

There will be an 8 p.m. ET premiere of Left for Dead: The Ashley Reeves Story on Lifetime on Saturday the 12th.

According to the Illinois Daily Journal, Ashley Reeves, 17, went missing on April 27, 2006, and was recovered in a park more than a day later, still clinging to life. When police found her, she was severely beaten and had a fractured neck. Police accused Samson Shelton, a high school teacher who knew Reeves, of the murder. In middle school, he’d met her and finally fell in love with her. It is reported that Reeves was injured in a confrontation with Shelton when she was attempting to end their relationship. Shelton said that he broke up with Reeves, but other than that, he agreed with most of Reeves’ tale. To make it appear like she was strangled, Shelton said he attempted to shove her out of the vehicle, and after her neck broke, he dragged her to a nearby field where he posed her as a victim. At the end of 2007, after pleading guilty to attempted first-degree murder, he received a sentence of 20 years in jail. Shelton was only seen as a minor lead in early investigations, according to St. Clair County Patrol Division Lieutenant Michael Hundelt in an interview with Elizabeth Smart for Crime Watch Daily. During his first questioning, he falsely claimed that he hadn’t seen Reeves for days. Investigators were worried, however, when Shelton was found to have changed his account many times, initially maintaining his connection with Reeves was platonic before confessing the reality. I asked myself, “If you didn’t have anything to conceal, why had you modified the tale so much?” Steven Johnson, the head of the Swansea Police Department, told Crime Watch Daily.
